Steel Classification

Low carbon (0.08-0.25%C): moderate strength, good weldability. Medium carbon (0.25-0.60%C): higher hardenability. High carbon (0.60-2.11%C): high hardness.

Chinese Grade System

45 steel = 0.45% carbon. 40Cr = 0.4%C + Cr. H13 (4Cr5MoSiV1) = 0.4%C, 5%Cr, Mo, Si, V. Q235 = yield strength 235MPa.
