Overview
Die casting is a metal casting process characterized by forcing molten metal under high pressure into a mold cavity. The mold (die) is typically made from hardened tool steel and can produce hundreds of thousands of parts with excellent surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and rapid cycle times. It is ideal for high-volume production of non-ferrous metal parts.

- Aluminum: A380, A383, A360, ADC12, A356 (for structural)
- Zinc: Zamak 2, 3, 5, 7; ZA-8, ZA-12, ZA-27
- Magnesium: AZ91D, AM60B, AM50A
- Copper-based: Brass and bronze alloys
Process Types
- Hot Chamber: For zinc and magnesium — lower melting point alloys, faster cycles
- Cold Chamber: For aluminum and copper — higher melting point alloys

- Surface finish: Ra 0.8 µm to Ra 3.2 µm as-cast
