Aluminum Alloys Commonly Used in China

ADC12 (equivalent to A383) is the most common aluminum die casting alloy in China. Other frequently used alloys include: A380 (best overall mechanical properties), A360 (better corrosion resistance), and A413 (excellent pressure tightness). Chinese die casters typically stock ADC12 by default. Specify alternative alloys in your purchase order or they will quote ADC12.

Quality Control Points

• Verify supplier holds ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 for automotive
• Request material certificates from the ingot supplier
• Check porosity levels: X-ray inspection for critical areas
• Confirm pressure testing capability for leak-tight parts
• Verify heat treatment furnace calibration for T5/T6 specs

Logistics and Infrastructure

China's die casting cluster is concentrated in Guangdong (Zhaoqing, Foshan), Zhejiang (Ningbo), and Jiangsu (Suzhou). All major clusters have good port access. Lead times typically 4-8 weeks for tooling, 3-6 weeks for production.
