Stamping Design Guidelines

Optimizing your design for stamping can reduce tooling costs by 30-50% and improve part quality. Follow these DFM (Design for Manufacturing) guidelines:

Critical Design Rules

• Bend Radius — Minimum 1x material thickness for 90° bends, 2x for thick materials
• Hole-to-Edge Distance — At least 2x material thickness from hole edge to part edge
• Hole-to-Bend Distance — 3x material thickness + bend radius to prevent distortion
• Slot Width — Minimum 1.5x material thickness for punch durability
• Corner Radii — 0.3mm minimum inside corners to prevent punch breakage
• Material Utilization — Design strip layout to maximize nesting efficiency (target >65%)
