China Manufacturing Guide
Last updated: 15 June 2026
The quality of injection molded parts depends as much on inspection equipment as on the molding process itself. This guide covers the inspection equipment commonly found in Chinese factories and what it means for your quality assurance.
CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine): essential for 3D dimensional verification. Look for brands like Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo. Chinese brands (Leader Metrology) are adequate for general use. Vision measurement systems: for 2D dimensions of small parts. Faster than CMM for repetitive measurements. Surface roughness testers: for verifying SPI finish grades (A1 through D3). Microscope systems: for visual defect analysis and dimensional verification of small features.
Melt flow index (MFI) tester: verifies material consistency between batches. Hardness tester: Rockwell or Shore for material verification. Spectrometer (FTIR or Raman): for material identification. Moisture analyzer: essential for checking material drying quality.
Leak tester: for sealed assemblies. Torque tester: for threaded components and snap-fits. Force gauge: for insertion and extraction forces. Temperature chamber: for thermal cycling tests. Vibration tester: for transportation simulation. Color spectrophotometer: for Delta E verification.
