Transfer Die Stamping
Transfer die stamping bridges the gap between progressive dies (small parts, high volume) and line dies (large parts, low volume). Individual blanks are carried through stations by mechanical fingers or robotics.

When to Choose Transfer Die Stamping
- Large parts: Exceeding 300mm, like automotive body panels and appliance cabinets
- Deep draws: Depth exceeding 50% of part width
- Expensive materials: Zero carrier-strip waste saves material cost
- Multiple forming axes: Bending/flanging in various directions
Transfer System Types
- Mechanical fingers: ±0.1mm accuracy, 15-30 spm. Best for parts up to 800mm.
- Robotic transfer: ±0.3mm, 6-15 spm. Maximum flexibility for low-volume, high-mix.
- Cross-bar transfer: 4-8 spm, handles parts 2m+. Used in tandem press lines.
Press Requirements
Transfer presses range from 200 to 2,500 tons. Key specs: bed size must accommodate all stations plus 20-30% clearance; stroke length minimum 2× part height plus 100mm; cushion capacity 15-20% of press tonnage.
