Jiaxing, strategically located between Shanghai and Hangzhou in the Yangtze River Delta, has developed into one of China's most important textile manufacturing hubs. The city hosts over 5,000 textile enterprises, spanning synthetic fiber production, yarn spinning, fabric weaving, dyeing and finishing, garment manufacturing, and technical textiles production. Jiaxing's textile industry generates over 200 billion RMB in annual output.
The Tongxiang and Haining districts are the primary clusters. Tongxiang is a major synthetic fiber and yarn production center, hosting manufacturing facilities for polyester, nylon, and polypropylene fibers. The city produces cotton, polyester-cotton blend, and fully synthetic yarns in a wide range of counts and specifications. Bulk continuous filament (BCF) production for carpets and technical applications is a specialty of several manufacturers.
Quality and sustainability in Jiaxing's textile industry have improved significantly. Many mills hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, GOTS certification for organic cotton products, and BSCI or SEDEX social compliance certifications. Water recycling and effluent treatment systems have been widely adopted in response to increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
For international textile buyers and brands, Jiaxing offers a comprehensive textile supply chain from fiber to finished garment, with strong technical capabilities in synthetic materials and technical textiles. The city's location on the Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed rail corridor provides excellent access to Shanghai ports and international airports.
